Metro Helsinki, Bombardier Transportation GmbH

For the new Metro in Helsinki IFS Design was responsible for the exterior and interior design, the driver’s position and a full-scale mock-up of the end of the vehicle and the interior fittings. Design development was carried out in close collaboration with the Helsinki Municipal Transport and in consultation with the renowned Finnish architect Antti Nurmesniemi.


Furthermore, IFS Design was closely involved in the overall design process, co-ordination and consultancy with the parts suppliers and the construction and manufacturing stages.




Since 2000, the vehicles designed by IFS Design have been a familiar sight in the Finnish capital.
